Where rhythm and emotion meet
This workshop is based on Melting Pot, a constantly evolving dance practice that encourages exchange between dancers of different styles and levels. The method creates an environment in which all emotions are welcome and given space: from joy to anger, from sensuality to frustration. Rhythm plays a central role in strengthening interaction and group feeling. This way of working together not only creates solidarity between the participants, but also increases your self-confidence.
The workshop combines different somatic movement forms and turns the learning process into a playful experience. Creativity and recreation go hand in hand, allowing you to connect with your intuitive, physical self in a spontaneous way.
Marco Torrice mixes physical theatre, contemporary dance and street dance in his practice. He is often inspired by how physical and non-physical impulses arise, transform, and collide, how the body negotiates between instinct and choice, hesitation and action. Desire, pleasure, fear, and pain shapes his artistic universe, not just as personal experiences or emotions to express, but as forces that reveal the power structures woven into our society.
Torrice was born and raised in Rome, where he studied philosophy, but moved to Brussels to take classes at P.A.R.T.S. He danced and created performances with Rosas, Mossoux-Bonté and the Belgian choreographer Leslie Mannès, among others. He teaches at international institutions such as P.A.R.T.S., SEAD, AP Hogeschool, ISAC, B.C.D.A. and PERA. He created several performances, including Me, Myself and I, Kitty 2012, Centipedes, Decameron, Liminal and Melting Pot.
