Delve into the creative process at the heart of a duet performance
Internationally renowned dancer and choreographer Theo Clinkard gives you an insight into the creative process and methods behind one of his recent performances. The choreography was made for two best friends. It is certainly not mandatory to register with a friend or colleague, although this could be a great experience. You will work with the same partner throughout the entire workshop process.
You’ll start with a gentle touch practice with your partner and then enter a process of moving together through a series of creative and observational exercises around mutual co-creation. You investigate how you can give meaning to the space between dancers and play with (a)synchronicity. Over the course of two days, you will develop a series of movements that subtly but continuously oscillate and transform.
Englishman Theo Clinkard works internationally as a choreographer, theater designer, performer, mentor and teacher. He has had a career as a dancer spanning more than twenty years. He makes creations for his own company as well as for Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Danza Contemporánea de Cuba and Candoco Dance Company. He is currently working on the performance Village, based on the work of the Flemish painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Theo is fascinated by the communicative power of the moving body and the empathetic potential of dance. He gives workshops worldwide and is an Associate Artist at Brighton Dome & Festival and an Honorary Fellow at Plymouth University.
