Other voices, other moves
East and West meet in this workshop. The Italian and French courts in the Renaissance to Baroque helped give form to most of the vocabulary of modern and classical steps. Through these noble dances, you learn to show both your graciousness and your power. We work with elements such as rhythm, memory, the use of space, lightness, coordination and expression, but not as you know it: we combine these Western classics with QiGong, an Eastern philosophy of both physical and mental health. Its fluid and conscious movements help circulate energy throughout the whole body. It not only helps to unblock emotional, intellectual and physical tensions but also to find harmony again.
Marco Bendoni Nartak was already 26 years old when he decided to leave his life in the office to pursue his real passion: dance. In 1987 Martha Graham saw Marco perform one of her own choreographies and decided to grant him a scholarship to study with her company. As a contemporary dancer he worked with Philippe Decouflé (Paris), Vicente Sáez (Valencia), Simona Bucci (Florence) and Luciano Padovani (Vicenza). He’s also an expert in Commedia dell’Arte. Under his direction the Company “Il Ballarino” has been performing antique dances, from Renaissance to Baroque all over the world. During his long trips and his studies he learned several meditations techniques as well as Tai Chi, Qigong, Dervish Yoga, Reiki and Gurdjieff Sacred Dances.
