Mojca Gal – Dancing at the 18th century court

Let’s go back into time, to the era of the Sun King Louis XIV and the musical prodigy Mozart. Elegant couple dances and amusing group dances with eloquent names such as Minuet, Courante, Contredanse, Quadrille and Ländler were fashionable among 18th century nobility in Europe. Dive into these 18th century dance traditions and musical performances with Mojca Gal!

The course is open to dancers of any level. Participants who play a musical instrument are welcome to bring it along.

Mojca Gal is of Slovenian origin but lives in Basel and works internationally as a musician, dancer and pilates trainer. She specialises in early music (violin) and 18th century ballet. With her ensemble Ad Fontes, she is constantly looking for lesser-known early music from different countries, which she brings back to life with actors, dancers, contemporary composers and musicians from other genres. She also has her own dance company Chorea Basileae and regularly gives master classes on the connection between music and movement.
