Inspiration & inclusion
This 2-day workshop is a chance to explore the company’s inclusive approach of Candoco Dance Company to creative practice. Through games, warm-up exercises, and creative tasks you will explore elements of the company’s diverse and expansive repertoire. It’s all about moving, dancing, creating and performing together. The session is open-level, suitable for disabled and non-disabled adults aged 18+.
Candoco Dance Company (UK) are a world-leading professional dance company continually expanding perceptions of what dance can be. Bridging the mainstream and the experimental, their bold approach and powerful collaborations create distinctive performances and far-reaching learning experiences. They celebrate different ways of seeing, of being and of making art, putting them at the forefront of conversation around dance and disability. 2021 is the 30th Anniversary of the company, with a repertoire including restaged work and new commissions by Trisha Brown, Yasmeen Godder, Hetain Patel and Jeanine Durning. Dance artist and choreographer Anne-Gaelle Thiriot (she/her) has been an Associate Artist with Candoco since 2010 and has danced with a lot of UK-based companies as a freelancer. She has worked in education and engagement for many years, and will lead the workshop.
