Dancers have known it forever: moving is not only beneficial for your body, but also for your mind. That connection between the physical and the mental also lies at the heart of the Eastern movement theory Qigong: qi stands for “breath, energy”, gong means “exercise”. So you could say that Qigong is a set of exercises that influence your spirit in a positive way.
In this workshop by Zuna Vesan Kozánková, you will gain insight into how the human body is built and how to use movements to let your energy flow into your bones and joints. Kozánková mixes the rather formal and structured Qigong exercises with dynamic and free dance improvisation. The emphasis is not on the outer form of the movements, but on inner harmony and flow.
Besides her professional dance training, Zuna Vesan Kozánková also studied shiatsu, acupuncture and Qigong. She has been working for more than 30 years in Europe and Asia, and is a much sought-after teacher because of her unique style that brings together anatomy and energy circulation. She is the driving force behind the international research projects Dance and Medicineand Dancing Qigong, in which she applies healing and philosophical principles from Taoism to the lives of performers to improve their health and performance.
