In this intense one-day workshop, you will immerse yourself in the powerful movement vocabulary of the Ultima Vez company. Expect a physical practice full of contrasts: high and low, soft and hard, action and surrender, instinct and control. These tensions generate energy. Movement, emotion and theatrical presence flow into one another.

Laura Aris works with technical exercises and improvisation. Partner work is central: you share weight, seek balance and negotiate in the moment. This allows you to discover how contrast, intention and cooperation create focus and expressive power.

This workshop requires commitment and stamina. You move intensely and work closely with others. If you feel like challenging yourself physically and going all out, this is the place for you.

Teacher

Laura Aris has more than thirty years of experience as a dancer and teacher with leading companies such as Lanònima Imperial, General Elèctrica d’Espectacles and Ultima Vez/Wim Vandekeybus. She has also developed a great deal of solo work and shares her expertise at renowned institutions and festivals worldwide, from ImPulsTanz (Vienna) and P.A.R.T.S. (Brussels) to La Faktoria Choreographic Center (ES) and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Her work has been recognised several times: she won the Lladró Award for Outstanding Dancer at Festival Dansa Valencia, and has obtained several research and residency grants that have furthered her artistic career.
