Once you discover Laban, you will never be at a loss for inspiration! Laban who?
Rudolph Laban developed a system which precisely details how the human body can move in terms of body, effort, shape and space. This clear system results in a whole spectrum of options for dance routines, choreography and improvisation techniques. It forms an indispensable basis for creating choreography. Laban is also a useful method for identifying and expanding ‘movement vocabulary’ and for taking closer notice of what others are doing.
Maggie Killingbeck is one of the leading ladies as regards Laban’s techniques and legacy. She has extensive experience as a Laban teacher. She has led several university dance programmes in the UK and various study programmes request her services as an examiner. Maggie has been the head of the Laban Guild for Movement and Dance since 2006.
