As a dance teacher, you convey techniques and expertise. However, another one of your key tasks is to supervise your group. You need to identify and encourage talent and make sure that everyone feels safe and at ease. But what is a group? And how does a group communicate? What roles do the various members take on? If you have a good understanding of these processes, you will be better able to interact with your dancers. This workshop will examine the different stages a group goes through and ways in which you can create a good atmosphere and a safe dancing environment. It will alternate between theory and practice.
JES works with young talent in the city. Whether they are making music or looking for a meeting place or an education, they are all given the space to experiment. As a socio-cultural organisation, JES has earned its stripes educating both individuals and groups.
