KRUMP FOR JOY II – Wladimir Jean

With influences from acrobatics, hip hop and tribal dancing, krumping has everything it takes to add new ideas, impulses, forms and rhythms to your dance vocabulary. At this workshop, Wladimir Jean – aka Big Trap – will tell you more about how krumping emerged and teach you a few basic moves and techniques. Feel the energy flow through your body from head to toe, get down to improvising and learn how you can integrate elements from krumping into your own choreographies. This workshop is for everyone! You don’t need have experience in krump or urban dance.

Born in 1988 in a moribund French village, Wladimir Jean was very young when he began watching dance films to drive away the boredom. He left the village of his birth behind for krumping and was picked up by the choreographer Heddy Maalem for the production ‘Eloge de puissant royaume’, with which he has toured all over the world. With infinite patience and a natural affinity with teaching, Jean is able to convey the meaning of movement to amateurs and professional dancers, teachers and people with a disability at his workshops.
