You can improve your health and well-being through dance, of that Charlie Brittain isconvinced. That is also the message that he conveys in the two workshops he will present at Out of the Toolbox.
Charlie Brittain’s passion lies in empowering participants to take ownership of their practice and champion their values through dancing. The workshop Impassioned | Embodied will feature a structured dance class based on precision, awareness and flow starting from simple movement principles. From there, you will progressively translate them into more complex, virtuosic and expansive movement patterns.
Charlie’s practice is anatomically-based with a strong focus on dynamism, clarity and rhythm. Participants will experiment with how to cultivate and transform energy with efficiency and control. Emphasis will be placed on group connectedness, movement integrity and assertive choices as we explore a range of movement exercises, improvisations and creative tasks.
Charlie Brittain is a dancer, choreographer, teacher and sports therapist. As a dancer and choreographer he has worked for companies such as the English National Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, the Royal Opera House and internationally renowned artists like Helder Seabra, Christine Hassid, Milan Tomášik, Barnaby Booth and Helen Parlor.
As a musculoskeletal health specialist, he works with clients who deal with injuries, postural issues and pain, as well as those seeking improved performance and enhanced wellbeing. He specialises in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of dancers and movement practitioners, which he approaches in a holistic way. He has devised courses and workshops on various topics within dance health and well-being.
On 21/08 Charlie Brittain will give another workshop: Integrated well-being in dance.
